We know that being asked to pay by bank on a site you haven't used before is a reasonable thing to hesitate over. This page explains exactly what happens when you check out, what we can and can't see, and what to do if something goes wrong.
How to pay, step by step
- At checkout you'll see one payment option: Pay by Bank, provided by Wallid.
- Select your bank from the list. We support the major UK banks, including HSBC, Lloyds, Barclays, NatWest, Santander, Monzo, Starling and Revolut.
- You're passed to your own bank's app or website — the same one you already use — where you log in as normal.
- Your bank shows you the exact amount and who it's going to. You approve it there, inside your bank, usually with Face ID or your normal banking passcode.
- You're returned to ASPeptides and your order is confirmed. You'll get a confirmation email straight away.
What Pay by Bank actually is
Pay by Bank uses Open Banking, the UK framework that lets you authorise a payment directly from your bank account without typing card details into a website. It's the same technology behind paying a bill or moving money inside your banking app. In the UK, firms that initiate payments this way must be authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
Our payment provider, Wallid, is authorised by the FCA under firm reference number 827001 — you can check this on the FCA Register at register.fca.org.uk.
What we never see
- Your banking login. You enter it in your bank's own app, never on our site.
- Your card details. We don't take card payments, so we never handle, store or transmit card numbers.
- Access to your account. Approving a payment authorises that one payment, for that one amount. It doesn't set up a recurring mandate and it doesn't give us or Wallid the ability to take money again.
Why we don't take cards yet
We're a new business and card processing for research chemical suppliers takes longer to arrange than for most retailers. We're working on it, and we'll add card payment as soon as it's available. In the meantime Pay by Bank is secure, instant, and costs you nothing extra.
Paying as a business or laboratory
Pay by Bank is well suited to business purchasing, and we can also invoice against a purchase order for established trade accounts. If you're buying on behalf of a laboratory, clinic or registered business and need an invoice, BACS details or agreed payment terms, contact us before ordering and we'll set that up.
If something goes wrong
If your payment fails, if you're charged and don't receive an order confirmation, or if there's a problem with what arrives, contact us straight away with your order number and we'll resolve it. Please see our Refund Policy for how returns and refunds are handled.
