Melanotan MT1 10mg Reconstitution: Water Volumes and Concentrations

How much bacteriostatic water to add to a 10 mg vial of Melanotan MT1, and what concentration each volume gives. For any other vial size, use the Peptide Reconstitution Calculator.

Concentration by water volume

Water added Concentration Peptide in 0.1 mL (10 units)
1 mL 10 mg/mL (10,000 mcg/mL) 1,000 mcg
2 mL 5 mg/mL (5,000 mcg/mL) 500 mcg
3 mL 3.33 mg/mL (3,333 mcg/mL) 333 mcg

A U-100 syringe reads 100 units per mL regardless of barrel size, so 10 units is always 0.1 mL. One 3 mL vial of bacteriostatic water covers every option above.

MT1 is not MT2

Melanotan MT1 is afamelanotide, a linear 13-amino-acid analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH) with two substitutions, norleucine at position 4 and D-phenylalanine at position 7, that make it considerably more stable than the native hormone. Melanotan II is a different, cyclic and shorter molecule with a broader melanocortin receptor profile. The two are frequently confused in listings. Check the CAS number and molecular formula on any product page to confirm which you are buying.

Handling notes

  • Let the vial reach room temperature before opening.
  • Add the water slowly down the inside wall of the vial and swirl gently until clear.
  • Store the reconstituted solution at 4 °C, protected from light, and avoid refreezing.
  • Label the vial with the date and the concentration you chose from the table above.

Supply

Melanotan MT1 10mg is supplied as a lyophilised powder with CAS number, molecular formula and storage conditions on the product page. Dispatched same day from the UK on orders placed before 4pm, Monday to Friday.

Concentrations assume the vial contains the full labelled mass of peptide; see your Certificate of Analysis for net peptide content. Supplied for in vitro laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use. Nothing on this page is dosing or medical advice.
